2026 to 2027 Season Timeline for Families

When	Milestone	What families need to know
October 7, 2026	Registration opens	Registration opens for the 2026–2027 season through SMHC’s HockeyShift registration link.
November 11, 2026	Registration closes	Complete registration by this date. SMHC will review player counts and age divisions.
Saturday, November 14, 2026	Skill evaluations and jersey fittings	All registered players in every age division participate. The schedule and assigned times are to be announced.
Week of November 16, 2026	Weather make-up evaluations	Additional sessions will be held if needed because of rain or other weather on November 14.
Thanksgiving break	Team formation and coach assignments	SMHC will use evaluations to form balanced teams and assign coaches.
Week of November 30, 2026	Practices begin	Team practices begin and continue until winter break.
Winter break	Practice pause	Regular team practices pause for winter break.
Week of January 4, 2027	Practices resume	Team practices resume following winter break.
Week of January 4, 2027	10-game regular season begins	Regular season games begin during the first week after winter break.

Playoffs and championship weekend • Picture day • Sponsor recognition activities • End-of-season celebration

Next steps for families Register by November 11 and plan to attend evaluations and jersey fittings on November 14. SMHC will announce assigned times and share team and practice information after evaluations.
